The Book Talk Assessment Tool is a downloadable, whole school resource that provides teachers with an effective way to assess reading. The resource contains age related skills that cover learning from the end of Foundation Stage through to Year 6. It is organised to flush neatly with the Reading Rainbow and follow the ‘Three Reasons to Read’ approach used during Book Talk sessions.
Teachers also use the Performance of Reading Target Cards that allow teachers and pupils to track their progress in reading across the year.
The Book Talk Assessment Records Tool comes in two formats:
- Microsoft Word version that can be printed and completed by the class teacher
- Excel Format to be used electronically by the teacher
